Do You Want to Be Right or Do You Want to Be Happy?
The first time when someone asked me whether I wanted to be right or I wanted to be happy, I was stunned. Wasn’t one the prerequisite for the other? How could I ever be happy unless I set everything to rights?
But then, I began to notice that there were always too many things to be put to rights and I was constantly unhappy. Even our language reflects that. Just think of it – we have “righteous indignation” not “righteous happiness”. Could it be possible that more often than not being right and being happy are two separate things? And if you had to choose between them, which one would you choose?
