Our Teacher Within
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God,
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
and his righteousness; and all these
things shall be added unto you.”
Every one of us has a Teacher Within. Call it Jesus, Guru, Higher Self, Guiding Spirit, Voice of the Silence or simply Intuition. There are many names for He who guides us gently through our daily stumbles, steers us away from pain, and invites us patiently to choose once again. He has unlimited patience and never judges us unfavorably.
At any given moment of any given day, we are invited to make many choices of food, jobs, friends, vacations and the like. The truth is, however, that they are all “non-choices”. They can never make any meaningful difference regardless of what we think. The only real choice that we have ever had is whether to follow the Inner Teacher or our selfish separative thoughts, a.k.a. the ego. We choose the way of the Inner Teacher and we get peace and happiness. The choice for the ego leads down to strife, guilt, misery, and suffering. So, which one is it going to be?
May each one of us find the Teacher Within sooner than later and follow Him happily home!
In quietness are all things answered, and is every problem quietly resolved
A Course In Miracles, T-27.IV.1:1
I agree with the thinking that the ego does not guide us to inner strength. Just a small point though: I don’t like the idea of righteousness. Both yin and yang exist in every situation, right? And, also, it is impossible to have complete information about what goes on around us. So how is righteousness even possible?
Totally agree with you. We can never see or know the full picture. And hence, our Inner Teacher Who from the point of Oneness is the only one who knows all and best.
